Rafael Aguiar successfully defended his Master’s Thesis entitled “Indoor Localization using Reconfigurable Intelligent Surfaces” on July 9.
The Jury was composed of Doctor Sérgio Reis Cunha (PhD, Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto), Doctor Qi Luo (PhD, University of Hertfordshire), and Doctor Luís Manuel de Sousa Pessoa (PhD, Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto).
Rafael developed tools and algorithms to characterize RIS-based localization performance under the supervision of Luis Pessoa and Nuno Paulino.
His work led to the publication of two conference papers: Enhancing NLoS RIS-Aided Localization with Optimization and Machine Learning and A Deep Learning Approach in RIS-based Indoor Localization.
The OET group wishes him good luck and success in his future projects!
Congratulations Rafael!
